What Is Heavenly Hay?

Sainfoin Feeds is redefining horse nutrition with Heavenly Hay™ pelleted feeds—a clean, natural, and highly palatable alternative to traditional forage. Designed for ranch horses and livestock owners who want the best for their animals, Heavenly Hay delivers a nutritionally balanced, easily digestible horse feed that animals love. Every pellet is packed with the natural goodness of sainfoin, a forage known for its taste, digestibility, and superior nutritional profile.

Sustainability & Animal Health

We believe great feed should care for both animals and the planet. That’s why our sustainable farming practices focus on protecting the environment while producing top-tier nutrition. Sainfoin naturally absorbs nitrogen from the atmosphere, reducing the need for chemical fertilizers. Cattle fed sainfoin also release fewer greenhouse gases, helping ranchers and farmers lower their carbon footprint without sacrificing quality. When you choose Heavenly Hay, you’re supporting healthier animals and a healthier planet.

Where It’s Grown

Every Heavenly Hay pellet begins in the pristine fields of Twin Bridges, Montana. A true slice of heaven on earth. Our sainfoin is grown non-GMO, free from harmful pesticides, herbicides, and synthetic fertilizers, preserving the purity of every bite. Unlike mass-produced feeds, our products contain no chemicals, fillers, or additives - just pure, natural ingredients that horses, cattle, and livestock thrive on.

Our Story

At the heart of Sainfoin Feeds is Shawn Wentzel, better known as “Sainfoin Shawn.” What started as an experiment on his beekeeping farm turned into a passion for sainfoin’s rich history and unmatched benefits. For centuries, this “holy hay” has been celebrated for its palatability, protein content, and natural health advantages - outperforming alfalfa and other forage. Today, Shawn and his family dedicate their lives to cultivating sainfoin from sunup to sundown, producing the most nutritious and flavorful horse feed available. His expertise has made him internationally recognized as a leader in sainfoin nutrition.
